This school is not just a new learning environment, it’s a new type of school– the first of its kind in Auckland, and absolutely everything about it needs to be created. This role is both unique and challenging: to take something completely abstract and create an exceptional place for gifted children, their parents/whanau and community.
The Steering Committee is searching for the ideal candidate to lead this venture and to work closely together to set a vision, to create the school, and to plan for its future development. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to establish an enduring future-focussed, dynamic learning culture and staff it with outstanding specialist educators. The school will open in Term 1, 2018, for students from Years 1 to 6 at a venue to be confirmed on Auckland’s North Shore.
This is an opportunity for blazing the trail in New Zealand education and working the way you’ve only ever dreamed of in the past. The focus will be on the holistic needs of young gifted and talented children, met through a specialist differentiated curriculum.
We envisage this school as being strength-based and specifically tailored for gifted learners, a place where like-minds can interact and engage at their own pace, characterised by depth, breadth and appropriate levels of challenge.
To that end, the Steering Committee is searching for a Foundation Principal who can inspire success and excellence in the classroom, dynamism within the school, and a rapport with the wider gifted community initially in Auckland, and potentially throughout New Zealand.
This is a challenging, but incredibly exciting, opportunity for a highly competent leader, who at the same time is also an energised and motivating ‘people person’ with a healthy dose of realism and a sense of humour!
Are you that person?
